Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply for WIC online?
Many states now offer online WIC applications or phone applications. However, you will still need to visit a WIC clinic for your nutritional risk assessment before benefits are issued. Check your state's WIC website for online application options.
How long does WIC take to process?
If you attend a WIC clinic appointment, you can often receive your eWIC card the same day. Online or phone applications may require a follow-up clinic visit. Processing is generally much faster than other assistance programs.
Can I apply for WIC if I already have insurance?
Yes. WIC is not affected by whether you have private insurance, Medicaid, or no insurance. Health insurance status does not affect WIC eligibility.
What if I am denied WIC?
You have the right to appeal a WIC denial. Ask your WIC office for information about the appeals process. You can also reapply if your circumstances change.
