ACA Income Limits for Subsidies 2027
Premium tax credits are available for households with income between 100% and 400% FPL. The enhanced subsidies that extended eligibility above 400% FPL expired at the end of 2025 — the "subsidy cliff" has returned. Households earning more than 400% FPL are not eligible for premium tax credits in 2026 or 2027 under current law. Verify at HealthCare.gov.
| Household size | 100% FPL (Medicaid threshold) | 150% FPL (max premium 0%) | 400% FPL (subsidy cutoff — no subsidies above this) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 person | $15,960/yr | $23,940/yr | $63,840/yr |
| 2 people | $21,640/yr | $32,460/yr | $86,560/yr |

Based on 2026 FPL guidelines. Actual 2027 limits will be updated when HHS releases 2027 poverty guidelines.
How to Enroll for 2027 ACA Coverage
Visit HealthCare.gov (or your state marketplace) and create an account if you don't have one.
Household size, estimated income for 2027, and state of residence. This determines your subsidy amount.
Browse available plans by premium, deductible, and network. The marketplace shows your subsidized price automatically.
Select your plan and enroll by the deadline. Pay your first premium to activate coverage — enrollment alone does not activate coverage.
